2006: In Retrospect

After a day and half after the New year, I've finally organised what last year was all about.. And what really happened. So, here goes..

The first half of the year was definitely a test for me; Settling in to life in London, Getting ready to finish off my first year of Alevels, and putting to jeopardy a lot of relationships. So in short, it was pretty messy.

My 18th Birthday was pretty wicked. It was something I had waited for, for a long long time.. And when it had finally arrived, I felt all grown up and mature. Obviously, I acted otherwise.

The next bit bought a nice and warm change [which was much needed!] - Going to Dubai, for the summer. Definitely the highlight of my year, without a doubt! The yummy plates of gorgeous food, the lounging around with someone special, the silly laughs and bad attempts to cook food, the whole.. Time that I spent there. I loved every bit of it, and would love to do it all over again. And again.. It was definitely one of the best summers I have ever had! I got a chance to be with Ayisha for a really really long time, and we got really used to eachother. Saying goodbye in the end, to everyone was probably one of the hardest things I had to do last year.

Coming back to London was a rare exciting moment. I was quite happy to be back *home*; My bed, my cats, Yousuf, Mum, arguing with shaf, and trying to get Faisal bhai into trouble.. And the usual routine of doing nothing and just.. Being.. After a couple of weeks though, bit by bit things started to change again. Going through yet another phase was hard and painful.. Life became really quiet, and almost a drag for a while. Yeah, an 18 year old saying things like that.. Quite crazy, eh?

Going back to college was nothing special. The only excitement I had was to apply to Universities, and just wait for this last [horribly hard] year of Alevels to be over.. But I began getting back into the routine of studying and working hard all over again.

All in all, another year went by.. Very quickly. It will definitely go down as one of the most painful, most toughest years I've had in a while.. But alas, it's gone. And here I stand in a new year, filled with brand new challenges and changes.

Will I change? Grow? Become more mature? Become calmer? I sure well hope so!

Here's a song that has become one of my favourites in the recent past. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars.
This particular verse probably fits in perfectly right about now:

"I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all.."
