Saw 3

It's been two hours since I've been back from this movie. Saw III.. Hmm. It took me a while to make my decision on what I think about it.. And here is what I've gathered, so far:

I went in expecting something similar [but new and exciting!] to the first and second, obviously. Since everyone warned me that it had more gore than the previous films, I was really looking forward to it. But for some reason I lost interest in the first half of the movie. The "tests" that these people were put through, was nothing quite different.. Yeah, the ending was.. Interesting. Yet it didn't get me all "GASP! That's what it was all along" kind of thing. There were no jumpy bits, or things that really made me freak out. The skull-drilling-opening bit was gory, but even so.. Still not so convincing.

This one to me, seemed mainly about Amanda's story. How it all happened, how she became a part of the whole thing.. Maybe the fourth part [if there is] will be all about John's story. And the fifth, about the new Jigsaw, who may aswell be the man at the end of this part. Tsk.

I kept telling Smelly how scared I was of it.. But to be honest, I really wasn't that frightened by it. The gore was definitely excessified in this one, but that didn't really scare me. What did scare me though, was the previews for Mel Gibson's Apocalypto.. Now that looks STRANGE!

I definitely agree now, that *horror* movies are becoming too formulaic.. There is the odd one that is quite different, and makes a big hit.. But then the others start following on to that, and well.. So on. I think it's time that I watch the older horrors - The Exorcist/The Omen [NOT the new one!]/The Poltergeist and ofcourse, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre., Maybe then I'd have something to compare the rest with.

Finally -
The ending was okay, and some may even start liking John/Jigsaw. The film seemed short, and this time it did fail to keep me interested. I guess it lost its essence; it has been made 3 times. If there is a fourth part, I don't think I'll be thrilled about it..

To all of you, who haven't yet seen it.. Wait for it on DVD.. Unless you are interested in seeing ankles being torn off and body's becoming completely twisted, on the big screen!

I Love all Liongates productions. Saw III, is simply one of the best horror movies around for this year. Have you even watched 'The Descent'? Now that's something...
